JAMES "JIMMY" MACK DUNCAN WAS THE SON OF W E AND ETHEL A CALTON DUNCAN. HE MARRIED MANDY LOU CRIGGER ON 14 JUL 1951. GOD BLESSED THIS MARRIAGE WITH TWO CHILDREN: LEON AND EDITH. HE SERVED HIS COUNTY IN THE US ARMY DURING WWII.

Surgoinsville – Jimmy Mack Duncan, 77 of Surgoinsville passed away on Saturday night (March 24, 2007) at Indian Path Medical Center following an extended illness. He was a lifelong resident of Surgoinsville. He retired from Greif Brothers Corporation in Kingsport with over 22 years of service. Jimmy was a farmer and loved to raise hogs. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather & brother who would do anything he could to help someone.

James was preceded in death by his mother, Ethel Calton Duncan; grandparents, Mack and Orlena Calton; his son, Leon Crigger in 2004; a brother, Hubert Duncan.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Mandy Crigger Duncan; a daughter, Edith Williams and her husband, Richard (Rogersville); a daughter-in-law, Marilyn Crigger (Surgoinsville); two grandsons, Scott Williams and Eric Williams; a granddaughter, Sue Hensley Williams; sisters, Belva Willis and her husband, Luther (Surgoinsville), Irene Willis (Maryland); his special friends, Vince Hill (Surgoinsville), Bud Ward and Conley Bailey (both of Church Hill) along with several nieces, nephews & a host of friends.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday (March 27, 2007) from 5 to 7 p.m. at Carter-Trent Funeral Home of Church Hill or friends may also call anytime at the residence in Surgoinsville.

A funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday (March 27, 2007) at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jerry Anderson, Pastor Randy Calton & Rev. Mike Cutshaw officiating.

The Hawkins County Color Guard & the TN Army National Guard will conduct a military graveside service on Wednesday (March 28, 2007) at 11 a.m. at Bethel Community Church Cemetery in Surgoinsville. Pallbearers will be Scott Williams, Eric Williams, Philip Duncan, Sue Williams, Chuck Crigger, Junior (Hoot) Willis & Alfred Willis.

Family and friends attending the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10 a.m. to go in procession.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Amis Chapel United Methodist Church, c/o Evelyn Henderson, 205 Amis Chapel Road, Surgoinsville, TN 37873.
