Ed's Obituary (Post Review) -
Edward P. Cedergren, of North Branch, died Saturday, Nov. 19, at his home at the age of 78.
Edward was born April 18, 1927 in St. Paul, Minn. to Carl E. and Myrtle (Griffin) Cedergren. He graduated from North Branch High School in 1944.
He attended college in Dickinson, N. Dak. and the University of Wisconsin.
He served in the Naval Air Corp from April 1945 to his honorable discharge in July of 1946. He re-enlisted in the U.S. Army in October of 1946 and was sent to Japan in December of 1946. He joined the 11th Airborne Division in January 1947 and was assigned to 1st
Platoon, C Company, 1st Battalion, 188th Parachute Regiment. He received his Honorable Discharge in January of 1948.
On Oct. 9, 1953 he married Elaine Barthine at the Stanchfield Baptist Church.
Edward worked all of his life as a masonry contractor and for ten years he was the Isanti County Building Inspector.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, flying, family and friends. He served on the Spring Lake Lutheran Church Board for over 30 years. He was the Krop Kaka eating champion at Spring Lake Lutheran for eating 20 at one sitting.
Edward was preceded in death by his parents and nephew Alan Cedergren. He is survived by his wife, Elaine, sons Carl and his wife Jame' of Stillwater, James of Cambridge, David of Akeley, grandson Maciah, brother John and his wife Betty of Cambridge.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 23, at Spring Lake Lutheran Church with Rev. Tim Bjorge officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
