Marv married Myra Holloway 14 Mar 1842. They were the parents of Pleasant M. DeRossett, George Washington DeRossett, Sarah E. DeRossett Vitatoe, Samuel DeRossett, Richard DeRossett, Martha Jane DeRossett, James W. DeRossett, Mary Elizabeth DeRossett, Adison Locke DeRossett, John A. "Bud" DeRossett, and Anna Belle DeRossett Hembree.

Per Bill DeRossett, "Marvel and Myra are buried in Haleys Grove Cemetery in Crab Orchard which is about six miles north of Grassy Cove. There are two entrances to Haleys Grove Cemetery. One is off of US Hwy 70 on the north side of the cemetery, the other off of Cox Valley Road on the east side of the cemetery. The driveway from the Hwy 70 entrance divides the cemetery into two sections, with newer burials on the west side of the road and older ones on the east side. Marv and Myra are in the middle of the old section very close to the Haley family plot which is enclosed by an iron fence."
