Larry E. Daggs
Larry E. Daggs, 73, of Montrose, Iowa, died at 9:50 PM Thursday, February 17, 2011, at Montrose Health Center.

Larry was born August 24, 1937, in Memphis, Missouri, the son of Robert Harold and Flora Madge Jones Daggs. He married Jean Snyder on June 2, 1956, at the Memphis Presbyterian Church in Memphis, Missouri. He worked as an agent for Penn Mutual Insurance from 1957 until his retirement in 2006.

He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Keokuk, Iowa. In addition to being a member of Keokuk Lodge #29, A.F. & A.M. for over 50 years, he was a member of KAABA Shrine and Keokuk Rotary Club, and past member of American Red Cross Board, Lee County Fair Board, and Southeastern Community College Board. He belonged to the Life Underwriters Group of Burlington, Iowa. He received many awards for his work at Penn Mutual Insurance and was an active blood donor. He enjoyed serving his community and church.

Larry is survived by his wife Jean; three daughters, Stephanie Altholz of Denver, Colorado, Melody Gunn and her husband Pete of Ft. Madison, Iowa and Hollie Davies and her husband Jeff of Colorado Springs, Colorado; seven grandchildren; a sister, Kay Eggleston and her husband Kenneth of Arbela, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Mary Watson and her husband Paul of Canton, Illinois; nieces; nephews; and cousins, including Don G. Miller.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother-in-law, James Snyder; and aunts and uncles.

A memorial service will be held at 11 AM Monday, February 21, 2011, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Keokuk, Iowa, with Rev. John Raab officiating. An inurnment at Sandusky Cemetery north of Keokuk will follow. Visitation will be held Sunday, February 20, 2011 after 1 PM with family meeting friends from 6-8 PM followed by a public Masonic service at 8 PM at DeJong-Greaves Celebration of Life Center on Blondeau Street in Keokuk.

Memorials may be made to the Larry Daggs Scholarship through Life Underwriters or to Southeastern Community College for a scholarship fund.
