Chester A. Nowak, 80, life-long resident of Calumet City, IL, passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2001 at St Margaret Hospital, Hammond. Survived by his wife of 54 years, Lillian (nee Linkiewicz); three daughters, Nancy L. Nowak, Laura Nowak and Barbara (Larry) Hartman; two sons, Mark (Vicki) Nowak and Tom (Pam) Nowak; four grandchildren: Alex and Paige Nowak, Kevin and Kristen Hartman; two brothers, John (Elaine) Nowak and Edmund (Janice) Nowak; one sister, Helen (Charles) Reiter, one uncle, Louis (Virginia) Mroz; one aunt, Martha Dziezak; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Sophie Nowak, sister, Julia Bigus and brother, Joseph Nowak.
Veteran of U.S. Army WWII; Member of Calumet American Legion Post #330, Ehinger Bros. VFW Post #8141 (service 7:30 p.m. Friday), Knights of Columbus Coronata Council #3806. Chester was a 1948 graduate of Worsham College of Mortuary Science. Licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer for over 50 years and the founder and retired owner of Nowak Funeral Home, Calumet City, IL.
