Samuel M. Hainline was a son of Nathan Hainline and Ann "Annie" Whitsett. He was married on 24 October 1861 in Hamilton Co., Ohio, to Mary Ann "Mollie" Leonard.

At the time of Samuel's death he was survived by his wife, not named in his obituary, and children:

John Leonard Hainline [1862-1924] who married Cora Alice Perkins;

Ida L. (Hainline) Beall-Poynter [1866-1952], wife of Franklin L. Beall and later J. D. Poynter of Winchester;

Susan Ella Wayne (Hainline) Cockrell [1870-1938], wife of Peter Rand Cockrell;

Sarah Walker (Hainline) Lancaster [1874-1948], wife of Benjamin F. Lancaster, and later Dallas S. Powell;

and Charles Beers Hainline [1878-1963] who married Edith Hill McGinnis.

I am thinking Mrs. A. E. Carnahan (Margaret G. Hainline [July 1870-] wife of Alford E. Carnehan of Cane Hill, Ark.) and Joe Hainline of Montgomery County are Samuel's niece and nephew and the newspaper just got it wrong.
