Faithful in her Bible study and prayers for Israel, Floreine Burbick, wife of Arthur Russell Burbick, passed away Sunday, Feb. 13, 2011, in New Philadelphia. She was 80.
Born Floreine Ella Mackey on Feb. 20, 1930, in Holmes County, to Glen William and Mildred F. (née Hostettler) Mackey, she graduated from Big Prairie High School in 1948.
A North Liberty-area resident since 1966, though Floreine worked a few years with Possum Run greenhouse, she preferred to think of herself as a homemaker -- a devoted wife and loving mother.
She was a member of Clear Fork Alliance Church, was gifted at oil painting and enjoyed her flower gardens. An excellent cook and pie baker, she made exceptional coconut cream pie and black walnut cake.
Her husband of 60 years, Russ, survives. Her family includes her daughter, Debi (Joel) Likins of Lexington; her son, Dale (Priscilla) Burbick of Navarre, Fla.; grandchildren, Marisa (Jeremy) Hawkins, Tasha Likins, Eileen (Nolan) Crossley and James (Hannah) Burbick; great-grandchildren, Corban and Tracen Crossley and Mackenzie and Hayley Burbick; a sister, Betty Beaver of Lakeville; brothers Glen W. Jr. (Patsy) Mackey of Big Prairie, Dean Mackey of Madisonburg and Donald (Kathryn) Mackey of Lakeville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Colleen Cox, and a brother, Lawrence Mackey.
The Burbick family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2011, at Clear Fork Alliance Church, 1008 Ohio 97 E., Bellville, where her funeral will take place 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011, with the Rev. Dr. Michael V. Stine officiating.
