Jack Brooks Rites Today

Funeral services for Alvin Thomas "Jack" Brooks, 54, of Phoenix, Ariz., are set for 1 p.m. Monday in Brooks-Sterling Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Curtis officiating.

Burial will be in Mount Nevelton Cemetery in Bullard.

Mr. Brooks died Wednesday in Phoenix after a brief illness.

He was a native of Bullard, and had resided in Phoenix for the past 10 years. He was a disabled veteran, and had resided in Tyler before going to Phoenix. He was a Methodist.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Corell Brooks; a son, Paul Brooks of Tyler; a daughter, Mrs. Marguerite Brooks Carter of Rantoul, Ill.; his father, William Brooks of Tyler; two brothers, Claude Nixon of Phoenix, Ariz. and William Brooks Jr., of Chicago, Ill.; two sisters, Mrs. Gladys Hayter of Tyler and Mrs. Emma Payton of Cleveland; and a grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Waymon Ates, Eddie Carter, Don Madlock, Ronnie Brewster, Robbie Guthrie and Rickey Guthrie.
