Obituary of Clement 'C.C.' Harshbarger

Clement C. "CC" Harshbarger, age 100, passed away Sunday, February 6, 2011, in Gulfport.

Mr. Harshbarger lived most of his life on the coast, and he was a life member and Past Commander of VFW Post 5931, Pass Christian. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army in the European Theatre during WWII. He enjoyed gardening and telling stories. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Ollie Harshbarger, and 3 brothers, Wirt, Tallis, and Russell Harshbarger. Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Agnes Harshbarger, a son, Perry Harshbarger, 3 grandchildren, Perry, Jr., Aaron, and Keri Lynn Harshbarger, 2 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews and many friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am Wednesday at Holy Family Parish, Menge Ave., Pass Christian where friends may visit from 10 - 11 am.
Interment will be in St. Joseph cemetery Rotten Bayou.

The Riemann Family Funeral Home, Pass Christian,is in charge of arrangements.

Jakob Kraushaar of Germany who came to America after the Revolution via the Port of Philadelphia; later changed name to:
Jacob Croushorn....became a US citizen about 1809;
Elizabeth Bauss his wife whom he married in Penn. in Lancaster. Her family was already living in America when Jacob came to this country.

He died about 1827 or 1828 in a gunpowder explosion I have heard and read somewhere. Some of their children stayed in Augusta County area and Rockingham County area and others moved to other states, esp. Indiana and Illinois.
