The nickname Mae comes from the first initial of her given name, Martha Ann Elizabeth.

From the publication of the Line Creek Baptist Church 150th Anniversary History Book, page 45.

1934--Precious Mother-Elizabeth Williams, wife of the late A. J. Williams and daughter of J. Jackson Spears and Barthania Spears, deceased.
She was born January 16, 1848 and married February 22, 1866 and joined the Line Creek Baptist Church November 12, 1871. She died May 27, 1934. She leaves four daughters, three sons, and two grandsons whom she had raised, beside a number of other grandchildren, three brothers and a host of other relatives and friends, that observed her sweet Christian life which was so beautiful.
There are many cherished memories that will linger with us always, upon our beds of pain we will long for the soothing touch of her hand. Then when we hear the clear call of the Makers, we shall go in the fond hope of an eternal meeting with Mother.
