Son of Sven Ahlin. John first arrived at Ellis Island, New York from Sweden in 1874 on the S.S. Batavia at the age of 21, and his name is engraved there. He was a gunsmith for the gun manufacturing company of Harrington and Richardson after moving to the United States.

He married Johanna Wilhelmina Magnuson in 1874 in Boston, Suffolk Co., MA. The couple had seven children: Emma, Emma, Annie Wilhelmina, Charles Henry, John David, Esther Marie and Hannah Wilhelmina Ahlin.

John Walfrid Ahlin Passes Away at His Home

John Walfrid Ahlin, one of the oldest Swedish residents of the city and the first Swedish resident of the Greendale section, died at his home 22 Greendale Avenue early this morning at the age of 66.

Mr. Ahlin was born in Husquarna, Sweden and came to this country at the age of 21 years, settling at that time in Boston where he later married Johanna Magnusen. After a residence of about three years in Boston, the couple moved to this city where they have resided ever since, living for 31 years in the Greendale Avenue home where Mr. Ahlin died.

Mr. Ahlin was one of the veteran employees of Harrington and Richardson Arms Co. where he worked for nearly the entire time of his residence in Worcester.

He is survived by his widow, three daughters, Mrs. A. W. McConnell of Los Angeles, Mrs. Charles H. Kingston and Mrs. F. J. Burden of Worcester, also two sons, J. D. Ahlin of Chicago and C. H. Ahlin of this city.

The funeral is in the charge of Oscar Lindquist and will be held from the home Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock and will be private.
