Daniel E. Jones
Daniel E. Jones, 92, of Dover went home to be with his Lord and Savior Monday, Jan. 31, 2005, following an extended illness.
Born Jan. 24, 1913, in Dover, he was a son of the late Daniel and Amanda Fulmer Jones Martin.
He was a life member of the First Lutheran Church in Strasburg and was a 35-year employee of Greer Steel retiring in 1978. He was a life member of the Zoar Gun Club, NRA, American Trap Assn. and the American Legion.
Daniel was a 1931 graduate of Dover High School and an Army veteran of World War II.
He enjoyed trap shooting, gardening and most of all spending time with his wife, family and friends.
Daniel is survived by his loving wife, Evelyn Wallick Jones, with whom he celebrated 63 years of marriage on Dec. 6, 2004.
He is also survived by two daughters, Patricia (James) Bailey of Dover and Joy (David) Carpenter of Columbus; three grandchildren, Tammy (Joe) Elsen of Cincinnati, Heather (Jay) Herbert of Dover and Daniel Carpenter of Columbus; four great-grandchildren, Monica, Carly and Jason Herbert, all of Dover, and Katy Elsen of Cincinnati; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Clyde and Billy Jones.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Feb. 4, 2005, at 1 p.m. in the First Lutheran Church at Strasburg with Pastor Andrew Mazak officiating. Interment will be at Grandview Union Cemetery in Strasburg.
