Harold Anthony Fisher, Sr. 72, of 2056 40th St. Rock Island, IL, died Tuesday at United Medical Center, Moline, IL. Services were held at the funeral home and at St. Pius Catholic Church on March 23, 1989. Burial was in National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL.

Harold was born May 29, 1916 to Ernest L. Fisher and Mayme C. Mathahs Fisher in Waterlou, Iowa. He married Doris Harriet Lindholme on May 29, 1941 at St. John's Rectory in Rapids City, IL.

He graduated from St. Mary's High School in Moline, Illinois in 1935.

Harold served in the Army from Dec. 26, 1943 to Feb 19, 1946. He was a veteran of World War II stationed in France, Germany and Belgium from May 1944 until Feb. 1946 in the 747 Engineer Corp. as a Tech. Corporal.

He worked 25 years at Caterpillar Co., Mount Joy, Iowa. He retired in 1980 from the planning department.

He was a devoted Catholic and received his First Holy Communion in St. Mary's Church on June 21, 1925. He was a member of St. Pius Catholic Church, Rock Island, IL; Caterpillar Retirees Club; Catholic Order of Foresters, St. John's Court 2050, Rapids City, IL; Friends Circle Club, Moline, IL; and Rock Island Eagles.

Survived by his wife, a son, Harold "Tony", Jr., and two grandchildren, Robert and Keith.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Kenneth Donald Fisher; a daughter-in-law, Linda McMillan Fisher and a granddaughter, Robin Lynn Fisher

Harold died at the age of 72 after a three month illness. His death certificate states his cause of death as Metastatic Cancer.

Rapids City --- Private Harold A. Fisher, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Fisher, is spending a 12-day furlough with his parents, his wife and son, Tony. Private Fisher, who has been stationed at Camp Sutton, N.C., in the engineering corps, has completed seven weeks' instruction on Diesel engines. He was graduated from St. Mary's high school, Moline, 1935, and before entering service last December was employed at Moline Heating Co. in Moline.
