DOTHAN. . .James Garland (Buddy) Jones, a resident of Dothan, died early Monday morning, January 31, 2011, at his home. He was 88.

Graveside services, with military honors, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, February 3, 2011, in the Oakland Cemetery, Panama City, Florida, with Reverend Gerald Ross officiating. Holman-Headland Mortuary is in charge of local arrangements. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:30 P.M. Thursday at Wilson Funeral Home in Panama City, Florida.

Mr. Jones was born and reared in Lewisville, Arkansas, son of the late Tillman George Jones and Zula Georgia Miears Jones. He served his country in the U. S. Navy during World War II. Mr. Jones formerly lived in Memphis, TN., Theodore, AL., and Hernando, MS. before moving to Dothan in 2006. He was retired as the owner and operator of Jones Automotive in Theodore, AL. In earlier years, Mr. Jones was employed by several Ford dealerships as a mechanic. He was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Jones was preceded in death by a son, James Carl Jones and a grandson, James Micheal Jones.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Lucille Skipper Jones, Dothan; two daughters, Hazanean Jones Good, Rockvale, TN; Jennifer Jones Morgan and husband, Bruce E. Morgan, Sr., Navarre, FL; a sister, Barbara Lou Jacks, Rison, AR; three brothers, Thomas Allen Jones, Hope, AR; Phillip Jones, Texarkana, AR; Bascom Jones, Hope, AR; five grandchildren, Chris Jones and wife, Amy; Pandy Marshall and husband, Tim; Bruce Morgan, Jr.; Camille Boutwell and Pamela Morgan; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.
