Services for William Bradford Coleman, 80, Caddo county tax assessor, were at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the First Baptist church in Anadarko Rev. J.T. Roberts officiated and burial was in Anadarko.
Coleman who had been in ill health since November 1954, died shortly after 8 a.m. Monday in the Lawton hospital, where he had been a patient for three weeks.
He served 32 years as a Caddo county official. He served four years as deputy in the tax assessor's office from 1922 to 1926. He was elected tax assessor in 1925, and was in his 29th year in that office at the time of his death. He served longer in public office than any other county official on record.
William Bradford Coleman was born Jan. 20, 1875, in Murillo, Ark. He married Ella Lee Blue in Scotland, Ark., Nov. 12, 1902. He moved his family to Anadarko in 1908. He was a member of the First Baptist church.
Survivors include his wife, Anadarko; three sons, Gus, Santa Paula, Calif.; James, Oak View, Calif.; and Lloyd of Philadelphia, Pa.; five daughters, Mrs. M.B. Fanning, Carnegie; Mrs. Bessie Marshall, Fort Cobb; Mrs. Faye Posey, Memphis, Tex., and Mrs. Virginia Lee Bower, Gainesville, Texas.
Other survivors include five sisters, Mrs. Ruth Thornton, Atkins, Ark.; Mrs. Fannie Reece, Oak View, Calif.; Mrs. Mada Scroggins, Mrs. Bess Durvin, and Mrs. Masie Firestone, all of California; six brothers, Walter and John, Anadarko; Oscar and Jess, Ventura, Calif.; Bob, Santa Paula, Calif. and Arthur of Atkins, Ark.; also his stepmother, Mrs. Sally Coleman of California, and 13 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
