David S. Moore, age 29, Indianapolis, Indiana, was shot in the line of duty four times on the cities east side and left lying in the road. Someone saw him lying there and called and reported it and his brothers and sisters on the force immediately came to his aid.
Our, Son, Brother, Uncle, Nephew, Friend to all, Officer for the citizens of the City of Indianapolis went home to be with our Lord on January 26, 2011.
This man of compassion died doing what he loved to do in life, protect others. This man had the qualities to serve with integrity, dignity and honor.
His character was developed by him and with the strength of his ancestors, The Moore family who settled Booneville, Kentucky; the Cord Family who farmed the land of Shelby County, Indiana.
This man who understood family importance and God in his life.
David is survived by his Mother and Father, Jo Ann (Cord) & Spencer Lee Moore; his beloved sister, Carol Bongfeldt and her husband, Brian Bongfeldt. His nephew, Samuel Zike and his niece Cora Zike.
His Uncle Juan Moore and cousin, John Moore.
His Aunt Kay (Cord) & Uncle Calvin Carpenter, cousins, Jason & Heather (Yeager) Carpenter their children, Kaylee and Zachary.
His Aunt Mary (Cord) & Uncle Ron Gates, cousins Michael Gates, Stephanie Gates.
His Uncle George Cord who's wife Sue (Darby) Cord passed away last Fall.

Officer Moore became part of the force back in 2004 and was awarded the title 'Rookie of the Year.'
Moore graduated from Roncalli High School and Purdue University.
January 23rd, 2011 at approximately 0900 hours Officer David Moore conducted a traffic stop on a 1998 Gold Toyota Camry.
During the stop, Officer Moore was shot in the head 2 times, the thigh once and the chest once.
A fourth shot fired at Moore's chest bruised the officer, but his bulletproof vest kept that bullet from piercing his skin.
Officer Moore could not radio for help, fortunately a citizen nearby called 911 and reported an officer down in the middle of the street. Fellow brothers and sisters quickly rushed to the scene, as well as Wishard EMS.
Wishard transported Officer Moore to Wishard Memorial Hospital.
Moore was struck four times in the head and neck and is in intensive care and on a breathing machine.
On January 25th, 2011 the Police Chief announced that Officer Moore will not recover from his injuries. He was pronounced deceased the following day at 6:18AM.
His burial was delayed by the ice storm.
