Mr. Raymond Yancy Blackwood, age 91, of Cumming, GA passed away on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 after an extended illness.

He was preceded in death by his parents James Asbury and Manervia Jones Blackwood and he was the last of their 13 children.
He is survived by: 5 children, 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Raymond was born July 11, 1919 in Blount County, AL. He was a World War II Navy Veteran. He joined the Navy in 1944, serving in the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign, the American Campaign and the Philippine Liberation Campaign,on the U.S.S. LST-917. He was honorably discharged in 1946.
In 1963 Raymond and his family moved to Marietta, GA.
He retired from Lockheed-Martin in 1987.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Pirkle officiating.
Eulogy to be given by his eldest grandson.
Graveside service with military tribute will be at the Blackwood Family Cemetery, Cleveland, Blount County, AL on Sunday, January 9, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. C.S.T. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Arrangements by: Junior E.
