Services for Jerrie G. Howell Pierson, 84, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral home. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Pierson died Tuesday, Nov. 12, 1996, at Brandon Woods Retirement Community.
She was born March 1, 1912, in Bentonville, Ark., the daughter of John Richmond and Bertie Moss Howell.
She moved to the Linwood area as a child and grew up there. She moved to Lawrence in the early 1930s.
Mrs. Pierson was a homemaker and enjoyed traveling.
She married Wallace Leonard Pierson on Aug. 20, 1956, in Miami, Okla. He died June 13, 1989. A son, Orval Allen, died in 1995.
Survivors include three sons, Richmond Allen, Topeka, Robert Allen, Lawrence, and Donald Allen, Dallas; three daughters, Delores Allen and Betty Pippert, both of Lawrence, and Juanita Loss, Muskegon, Mich.; a stepson, C.J. Pierson, Falcon, Colo.; three stepdaughters, Betty Mae Morrison, Lubbock, Tex., June Viets, Shepherd, Tex., and Susie Fails, Donie, Tex.; 41 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and 20 great-great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday.
The family suggests memorials to the American Cancer Society, sent in care of the funeral home.
