Services for Charles E. "Eddie" Harris, age 69, of Pottsboro, were held at 10:00 AM Friday in Johnson-Moore Funeral Home's Pottsboro Chapel. He died Tuesday, March 22 at Wilson N. Jones Hospital in Sherman.

The Rev. Hugh Davis officiated. Military gravesite services were held at Cedarlawn Memorial Park. Mr. Harris was born in Quitman, MS, the son of Frank Wright Harris and Beulah Lee Watson Harris. He attended school in Mississippi and Texoma Regional Police Academy at Grayson County College. He married Peggy Delean McDonald December 8, 1944 in Prattville, AL.

He was a Navy veteran and served from 1943-1944. He was constable for precinct 8 and the Grayson County Sheriff's Department and was former Pottsboro police chief. He retired from Austin College as Lake Campus site manager. He was of the Baptist faith and a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans.

Surviving are his wife Peggy; son, Charles Ray Harris of Denison; daughters, Patricia Delean Broom of Hampton, VA, Peggy Diane Cassell of Pottsboro and Shirley Ann Hix of Denison; brothers, Robert F. (Bob) Harris of Abilene and Johnny Harris of Irvington, AL; sisters, Evie Lee Todd and Sadie Lee Martin of Quitman, MS, Effie Lee Ernest of Fairhope, AL and Judy Ann McGregor of Denison; 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Larry Luster, Gary Robinson, Harrison French, Emmett Wainscott, C.C. Wade and Jackie Griffin.

Honorary pallbearers are members of the Pottsboro Police Department.
