Born at Keel, Achill Island, County Mayo, west Irish Free State, came to USA from Scotland in 1901, Ship unknown. Son of Peter Gallagher, grandson of Thomas Gallagher, both of Keel Bay, Ireland. Both fishermen. Father of Mary, Margaret, Helen (Chula), Peter, Thomas W. Jr.,and Mark. Husband of Bridget Cannon Gallagher. She was born on Inish Bofin Island, county Galway, Ireland. Foreman City of Cleveland, Ohio Water Dept, fell off a wagon at work, fell on cement steps rupturing a kidney died a few days later after emergency surgery. Lived at 1808 West 45th Street (duplex first floor)near Bridge at time of Death. Prior to that they lived on Woodbine Street behind St. Patrick School and Church Member St. Patrick Catholic Church on Bridge Ave in Cleveland. He, wife and children were all very active members of the Republican Party in Cleveland. Also active members of the West side Irish American Club. Family tradition says Tom and Bridget were members of the Ancient Order of Hibernians but no papers were ever found to prove or disprove it. He was responsible for bringing other siblings here from Ireland as well as others from his hometown of Keel or Keel Bay on Achill. When he came to Cleveland in 1901, he got a job at the shipyards. He learned ship building while living in Scotland. Later with new found Irish friends, he got a job working for the water department as a laborer, working his way up to foreman. He and his wife promoted solidarity and all things and people Irish. Middle name is Williams, not William. Named after one of his ancestors surnames. Siblings Margaret Toolis 1869-1956, Bridget (Bessie) (married Henry John Morgan 1907 in Cleveland)Eliza 1876-?, Elizabeth Ruane 1880-1916.
