William Earl "Bill" Welch Jr., 65, Bardstown, died Thursday, Jan. 20, 2011, at his home. He was a native of Nelson County, a retired employee of Jim Beam Distillery and was voted in 1965 as an All-American Football Player. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Earl Sr. and Beula Hutchins Welch; and four brothers, Tommy Welch, Mark Welch, Ronnie Welch and Jimmy Welch. Survivors include his wife, Linda Whitney Welch, Bardstown; a son, Tandy Welch, Cox's Creek; two daughters, Debra Welch, Cox's Creek, and Jessica Welch, Bardstown; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two sisters, Connie Updike and Wanda Riley, both of Bardstown; and six brothers, Joe Welch, Freddy Welch, Jacky Welch, Donnie Welch, Ricky Welch and Randy Welch, all of Bardstown. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Cox's Creek Baptist Church with burial in St. Gregory Church Cemetery. Bro. Jim Bratcher will officiate. Visitation will be noon-8 p.m. Saturday and after 9 a.m. Sunday at Greenwell-Houghlin Northside Funeral Home. Greenwell-Houghlin Northside Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
