Helen Marie Barnes Hendrix
(February 06, 1928 - January 14, 2011)

Helen Marie (Barnes) Hendrix, age 82, of Washburn, Missouri, passed away Friday, January 14, 2011, at the home of her nephew, Ralph Hendrix.

She was born February 6, 1928, in Ottawa, Kansas, the daughter of Leslie Lawrence and Amelia Francis (Loewen) Barnes.

On November 1, 1943, in Seligman, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Willie Hendrix, who preceded her in death on August 9, 2010.

Helen said being married sixty-seven years equals a good man.

Also preceding her in death were her parents; and infant son at birth, Jody and a brother, Leslie Eugene Barnes.

Surviving are one brother, Ray Barnes and his wife, Melba of Apache Junction, Arizona; three sisters-in-law, Leta Barnes of Lamar, Missouri, Mildred Hendrix of Washburn, Missouri and Georianna Hendrix of Washburn, Missouri; five nephews; three nieces; numerous great nieces, great nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.

The Lord blessed her in her last days with two precious children, Ralph Hendrix and Charles Smith and a special friend that watched after her precious Willie, Pearl "Fancy" Henry.

Helen received her education in West Plains and Seligman and was the queen of her sophomore class at Seligman.

She and Willie shared a ministry. He was the pastor and she ministered in music.

For several years she was employed as a machine operator for Basie Bristol.

Helen was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church at Washburn. Her favorite pastime was playing her guitar and singing gospel songs.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday, January 17, 2011, in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville, Missouri. Brother Garry Willoughby and Reverend Bob Scott will conduct the services.

Burial will be in King Cemetery, Seligman, Missouri.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Sunday in Fohn Funeral Home, Cassville, Missouri.
