Betty Farris Knott
Mrs. Betty F. Knott, 74, of Cary, passed away peacefully with family in attendance on Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at Rex Hospital in Raleigh. Betty was born February 26, 1936 in Gaston County, NC and lived most of her young life in Henderson, NC where she graduated from Henderson High School in 1954. She married Sidney A. Knott on December 27, 1953 and they moved their family to Cary in 1960. Betty worked at North Carolina State University's music department for 34 years until her retirement. She then went to work for NCBA, a federal government agency, until her death. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. In addition to spending time with her family, Betty enjoyed antiquing, baking, traveling and watching her grandchildren's sporting events.
She is survived by her husband, Sidney, of 56 years; daughter, Sherrie D. Knott of Cary; son, Michael A. Knott, his wife, JoAnn, and grandchildren, Seth, Annika, Jonathan, and Jacob of Clayton; and son, Phillip D. Knott, his wife, Pam, and grandchildren, Parker and Preston of Willow Spring. She was preceded in death by her brother, Ray Grissom.
The family will receive family and friends Monday, September 20, 2010 from 7 to 9 pm at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 200 SE Maynard Road, Cary, NC 27511. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at 2 pm.
