Retired Army Staff Sgt. Ronald Lee Buchanan, 70, of 128 Leona Ave., Fayetteville, passed away Thursday, Aug. 18, 2005, in Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
Mr. Buchanan was a 1953 graduate of the U.S. Naval School of Music. He served his country in the Korean War and the Vietnam War, with more than 20 years of service before retiring at the rank of staff sergeant. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service with 27 years of service.
Mr. Buchanan is survived by his wife, Gladys S. Buchanan of the home; three daughters, Deborah Hopkins of Fayetteville, Sue Sandhoff of Bradenton, Fla., and Dianne Buchanan of Fayetteville; four sons, Ronald Buchanan Jr. of Four Oaks, David L. Buchanan of Norfolk, Va., Kevin B. Buchanan of Wendell and Michael S. Buchanan of Fayetteville; 19 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Ronald Lee Buchanan will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday in the Rogers and Breece Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Johnny Rivera and a military chaplain officiating. He will be laid to rest with full military honors in Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake. The United States Army Honor Guard from Fort Bragg will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 tonight.
