Clyde Albert Alford, 85, husband of Virginia Walker Alford, of Mt. Pleasant, SC, died Thursday, May 24, 2007.

The relatives and friends of Clyde Alford are invited to attend his Funeral Service on Monday, May 28, 2007 at the McClellanville United Methodist Church at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow in the McClellanville Cemetery. Friends may call at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL on Sunday, May 27, 2007 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.

Mr. Alford was born June 28, 1921 in Georgetown County, SC, son of the late William Capers Alford and Lillie Idell Finklea Alford.

He attended The Citadel and graduated from Bowling Green College in Bowling Green, Kentucky. During World War II, he served in the US Navy in the Pacific Theatre. Mr. Alford was a retired Internal Revenue Service agent.

He is survived by his wife of Mt. Pleasant, SC, daughters, Alberta Virginia Alford Druce and Jane Skrine Alford Szorc, both of Mt. Pleasant, SC, sister, Myrtle Alford McConnell and Ruth Alford Hansen, both of Georgetown, SC, brother, William Cole Alford of Georgetown, SC, five grandchildren, Robert Walker Alford Druce, Christopher William Druce, Katherine Frances Druce, Victoria Caroline Druce, and Maxim Joseph Szorc.
