Abney was born April 28, 1929 in Gracemont to Gerald and Eunice Lee Babb Abney and died Tuesday in Oklahoma City.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Robert Dewayne Abney; one sister, Mildred Marie Miller, and one brother, Raymond Abney.
Abney was a construction worker, a home builder and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was of the Pentecostal faith.
Survivors include four children, Roberta Gail Arthurs, Deborah Lewis and her husband, Lindell; and Shari Abney, all of Oklahoma City; and Paula Minick and her husband, Harry of Luther; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Colleen and Jerry Litterell; Shirley and Don Dvorak of Checotah, Ok.; and Delphene and Paul Gomez of Lawton; two brothers, Orville Parton and Verle Parton, both of Oklahoma City; eight grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
He is also survived by three nieces, Betty Jean Kardokus of Ft. Cobb and Vonda lee Main and Donna Raye Williams, both of Anadarko.
Military rites were led by Louis 'Buddy' Bedoka and David Nixon, both of Anadarko.
Services were under the direction of Branstetter-Rosewood Funeral Home of Oklahoma City.
