Benj. F. McCready was originally from the Eastern Shore of Virginia. First moved into Maryland in early 1800's to area known as Shell Town.Owned Boat building business. Moved to what is now known as Crisfield, but was originally known as Annamessex. Farmed area. Had large family. Outlived 3 of his oldest sons. Family fell on hard times as a result.Also served with the 23rd Regiment during War of 1812 in the area.
