Combat Infantry Badge

Purple Heart

In general, the 2/60th, 3/60th and 5/60th (Mech) were the battalions of the 60th that participated in both Riverine operations and "jitterbug tactics" which featured split-second timing of airmobile insertions in close proximity to enemy units. These ops won these battalions unit citations and campaign streamers. They made up the infantry operations of the 3rd Brigade of the 9th Infantry Division. The 9th Infantry Division was the only army unit in the enemy infested Mekong Delta.
