Funeral services for Vergil Franklin Jones, 80, Thayer, were at 2 p.m. today, Monday, September 14, 1992, at Carter Funeral Chapel in Thayer with Brother Grover Pingleton officiating.

Mr. Jones died at 3:54 p.m. Thursday, September 10, 1992, at Ozarks Medical Center, West Plains. He was born November 11, 1911, at Koshkonong, the son of John and Malissa Jewell Jones.

He was married June 29, 1935, in Greeley, Colorado, to Nina Hunsperger.

Survivors include his wife Nina Hunsperger Jones, Thayer; one daughter, Wanda Davis, Thayer; one son, Vergil Jones, Thayer; six sisters, Phyllis Hunter, West Plains, Bessie Waldridge, Thayer, Ethel Anderson, Monterey Park, California, Sally Brower, Millbrae, California, and Iva Day and Norma Lancaster, both of Koshkonong; one grandson, Ronald Davis and wife, Kimberly, Couch; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brother, Calvin Jones and Earl Jones; and two sisters, Grace Cook and Lenora Swenson.

Burial was at Wayside Cemetery under the direction of Carter Funeral Home, Inc. of Thayer.
