He was a retired farmer and cattleman, Deaconof Palmer Baptist Church and a member of the Board of Directorsfor the Tippah County Farm Bureau. Funeral services were heldFriday October 24 at 3 p. m. at Ripley Funeral Home Chapel withburial in Tippah Memorial Gardens. Rev, Bill Colter officiatedwith Rev. Bruce Cappleman assisting. He is survived by his wife,Mrs. Leila Bullock Avent, Blue Mountain; two daughters, Mrs. SueGossett, Blue Mountain; and Mrs. Lola Ennis, Savannah, TN; abrother, Twylor Avent, Jackson, TN; two sisters, Mrs. FannieOwns (Owens?), Bolivar, TN; and Mrs. Anna Mitchell, Mesquite,TX; and two grandchildren. Pallbearers were the Deacons of PalmerBaptist Church: Mack Malone, Perry Malone, Truitt Heavener,Kenneth Lence, Wayne Hughey, William Reese, Charlie Miskelly,and Earl Kent.
