Insurance broker and money launderer known as the "Friendly Godfather". In 1951, then head waiter at Mario's, a Melbourne restaurant, he was fined for bringing an automatic weapon into Victoria. At the hearing he claimed he was not a member of the Black Hand. In 1976 he received two years for manslaughter after killing his wife's lover. Arena was thought of as a potential successor to Liborio Benvenuto in controlling the Queen Victoria Market until he was shot and killed in his own backyard in Bayswater on 1 August 1988.
