STURGIS - Services for Berniece Louise Goodroad, 80, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis. She died Tuesday morning at her home in Sturgis.
The Rev. Jack Hill will officiate. Burial will be at Whitewood Cemetery.
A memorial has been established to the Diabetes Foundation.
She was born Oct. 27, 1910, in Whitewood Valley to Joshua and Mabel (Richards). She attended country school in Oakdale, near Whitewood Valley, and high school in Whitewood. Her early years were spent in the Newell-Whitewood Valley area. She received nurse's training in Rapid City.
On Dec. 25, 1933, she married Lyle Goodroad in Deadwood. After their marriage she moved around the Northern Hills, living in several communities before moving to Sturgis in 1987.
Survivors include five daughters, Shirley Smith of Hill City, Kathy Edwards of Rapid City, Carol Baker of Newell, Louise Thomas of Denver, and Jean Ethington of West Monroe, La.; one son, Jerry Goodroad of Nis-land; two sisters, Lucille Fagering and Blanche Mathison, both of Sturgis; 31 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by two sons, Dale Goodroad and Larry Goodroad, and one brother Joshua Ramsey.
