Deceased was born in Posey county, Indiana, n 1817. In his early life he followed the occupation of a flat boatman and pilot on the Ohio and Wabash rivers. He came to Sumner county with the first wave of immigration in 1871 and settled on a claim n London township. About ten years ago he gave up his home there and came to live with his children in this city. Besides his wife, who has been making her home with a daughter at Belle Plaine, his surviving children are the three ladies names above, Rms. Cass Markley, of Belle Plaine; Mrs. William Chaney, living in the Strip, south of Hunnewell, and William Aldridge, of Manchester, Oklahoma.
Funeral services were held at the residence of is daughter, Mrs. Leila King, at 2 o'clock on Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. A. O. Ebright, assisted by Rev. O.L. Smith. Interment was made in Prairie Lawn cemetery.
