Musician. He was a session drummer and a founding member of the rock band "Toto." Born Jeffrey Thomas Porcaro in Hartford, Connecticut, he is the son of drummer Joe Porcaro, the oldest of four children and was raised in Los Angeles, California's San Fernando Valley (SFV). By the 1980s, he was viewed as one of the music industry's top drummers. He toured and recorded with artists including: Boz Scaggs (Steve Miller Band), Steely Dan, Jackson Browne, Michael McDonald (The Doobie Brothers), Paul McCartney (The Beatles/Wings), Elton John, Michael Jackson and many more. In 1977, he joined singer Bobby Kimball, guitarist Steve Lukather, keyboardists David Paich & Steve Porcaro and bass player David Hungate to form "Toto", which signed with Columbia Records (CBS) and released their self-titled debut album in the fall of 1978. Together, they produced the Top 10 hits "Hold the Line," "Rosanna," "Africa," "I Won't Hold You Back," their album "Toto IV" (1982) was certified triple-platinum by the RIAA and won the Grammy Award for Album of the Year in 1982. Into the early 1990s, he continued to record-tour with "Toto" and remained an in-demand session musician.
