James Lyman Rhodes, 90, of Tiptonville, died Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Memphis.

He was a retired sheet metal worker for the T.V.A., member of Wynnburg Baptist Church, he was a U.S. Army veteran, serving before Pearl Harbor, then serving in WW II in the European Theatre, he was in partnership with his brother, Harold Lee Rhodes in Wynnburg Grocery, a Mason, 32 Degree Scottish Rite and Shriner.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Wynnburg Baptist Church with the Rev. Chip Davis officiating. Burial will be in Lake Memorial Gardens. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

The family will receive visitors from 5:30-8 p.m. Thursday at the church.

Survivors include his son, Norman Rhodes and wife, Diane, of Tiptonville; two brothers, Harold Lee Rhodes and Kenneth Rhodes, both of Wynnburg; two grandchildren, Jim Rhodes and wife, Michelle, and Ashleigh Matteson and husband, Mike; five great-grandchildren, Trey Rhodes, Jennifer Matteson, Christopher Matteson, William Matteson and Hailey Rhodes; and also Alma Rhodes of Tiptonville.

Pallbearers will be Ray Rhodes, David Rhodes, Mark Rhodes, Johnny Barnes, Randall Rhodes, Sam Rhodes, Chris Cook, Josh Barnes and Cory Barnes.
