Grand Rapids, Mich., October 5-- (Special.)-- Dr. R. J. Kirkland, a prominent physician of this city, was arrested tonight on a warrant charging him with felonious assault. A few nights ago the doctor shot a boy named Willie Kortlander in the legs for throwing stones at his barn windows. The father of the boy is another prominent citizen, and hence the case promises to be interesting. The shooting was done with a small pistol loaded with bird shot so that the boy was not seriously hurt, but it took several days to extract the shot.
