Lee Nelson, 88, of Sweet home, died June 8 at a local care home.
Mr. Nelson was born in Ewing, Va., and grew up in Virginia. He married Ruth Henson April 4, 1936, in Yuma, Ariz. and they farmed. They moved to Sweet home for El Centro, Calif., in 1952.
Mr. Nelson belongs to Holley Christian Church and the Sweet Home Senior Citizens Club.
He is survived by his wife Ruth; daughters Laura Westmorlen of Rocky Ford, Colo, and Edith Fields of Crawfordsville; sisters Edith McDaniel of Beaumont, Calif., Hazel Cope of El Centro, Calif, and Anna ? Robinson of Lone Jack, Mo.; and brother J.W. Nelson of Brownsville. There are six grandsons, and 10 great-grandchildren.
Sister Tensie Chapman and brothers Joe, Albert and Floyd died before him.
A graveside service was Tuesday, June 11, at the Brownsville Baptist Cemetery, with Pastor Ken Mayberry officiating.
Steckly-Tracewell Funeral Home handled arrangements.
