William Belisle, 80, owned variety store, worked at Monsanto
William N. Belisle, 80, of 75 Stivens Terrace, a retired 40-year expediter for the Monsanto Company of Springfield and former co-owner of Belisle's Variety Store, died Thursday (May 31) at home.
He and his first wife operated the store for 25 years until closing it in 1971.
Born in Ludlow, he was a lifelong resident and a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church. He was a member of the Monsanto 25 year club.
His first wife, Viola (Roy) Belisle, died 22 March 1982.
He leaves his second wife, Amelia Bertha "Amy" (Breeman) Von Suskil-Belisle; two sons, Raymond J. Belisle of Ludlow and Leo William Belisle of Springfield; two daughters, Betty M. (Belisle) Pellegrini and Ella Marie "Ellie Mae" (Belisle) Falconer, both of Ludlow; a step-son, James D. Von Suskil of Alexandria, Virginia; a brother, Leonard Joseph Belisle of Ludlow; a sister, Doris (Belisle) Guertin of Ludlow; 16 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren and 15 Great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Monday (June 4) morning at the Ratell Funeral Home and in the church with burial in St. Aloysius Cemetery of the Indian Orchard section of Springfield. Calling hours will be Sunday (June 3) afternoon and evening.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Pioneer Valley, 570 Cottage Street, Springfield, 01104.
