Mary Louise Wolbert "Lou" Douglas

Mary Louise "Lou" Wolbert Douglas, R.N., 79, of West 30th in Millcreek, passed away at her eldest daughter's home in Chardon, Ohio, surrounded by her family.

Born in Snydersburg, September 24, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Thelma Agnew Wolbert, Sr.

She graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1949 and received her degree from the Oil City Hospital School of Nursing in 1952. She was director of nurses at Metro H.C., head nurse at Hamot Medical-Surgical Unit, and operated Mary Douglas Referral, a successful home health care business, for many years.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 41 years, Lt. Col. Leslie M. Douglas in 1997; her son-in-law, Michael O'Brien; and two brothers, Fred "Bob" Wolbert and Dale Wolbert.

Surviving are her children, James Douglas (Penny), of Cincinnati, Ohio, Penny O'Brien Black (Christopher), of Chardon, Ohio and Terri Straub (Robert), of Erie. She was blessed with six grandchildren, Christopher, Taylor and Ali Douglas, Kelsey and Lindsey O'Brien, and Leslie Mary Kern, named after her grandparents.

Calling hours at Brugger Funeral Home, Tuesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Services there Wednesday at 9:45 a.m., with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Jude the Apostle Church at 10:30 a.m.

Entombment in Holy Family Mausoleum at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
