Susan Gaye Johnson, 56, of New Philadelphia, died Sunday, July 02, 2006 in her residence following a brief illness.

A daughter of Laura "Lucy" Johnson and the late Danny D. Johnson Sr, Susan was born on June 13, 1950 in Union Hospital.

Susan, who was Methodist by faith, graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1968 and attended Wittenberg University and the Katherine Gibbs School in New York City. Upon finishing her education, Susan worked in the banking industry for over 30 years in Columbus, Ohio as well as here locally.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by three brothers, Michael C. (Joan) Johnson of New Philadelphia, David E. (Nancy) Johnson of New Philadelphia and Mark E. (Brenda) Johnson of Sugarcreek; sister-in-law, Sherry Johnson of New Philadelphia; nieces and nephews, Heather (Christian) Hunt of Columbus, Ohio, Abbey Johnson, Michael Johnson and Doug Johnson of New Philadelphia, Beth Johnson of Japan, Todd Johnson, David Johnson and Maggie Johnson of New Philadelphia, and Jeremiah Johnson and Justin Johnson of Sugarcreek; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Susan was preceded in death by her father and one brother, Danny D. Johnson, Jr.

Friends and family may call on Thursday, July 6, 2006 from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia. A funeral service celebrating Susan's life will be held on Friday, July 7, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. in the Linn-Hert-Geib Chapel with Rev. Dr. Steven Bailey officiating. In keeping with Susan's wishes, cremation will take place following the services and inurnment will be held in Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia at a later date.

Following the service on Friday, a memorial reception will be held in the Geib Family Center at New Philadelphia.

Memorial contributions may be made in Susan's memory to Hospice of Tuscarawas County, 201 West Third Street, Dover, OH 44622 or to a charity of one's choice.
