BOERNE YOUTH WIDELY MOURNED
Belmont Adler, Victim of Accident, Related to San Antonio Pioneers.

BOERNE, Tx., Aug. 28 -- One of the largest funerals ever held in Boerne was that of Belmont Ogden Adler, 15-year-old son of Mr & Mrs H.O. Adler, who was accidently killed Tuesday in the department store owned by his father when an elevator fell, crushing him.

Practically all the citizens of Southern Kendall County attended the funeral and the burial lot was entirely covered with flowers. The Rev. George Belsey, rector of the Episcopal church of which Belmont was a member, conducted the services, and the Boy Scouts also participated. At the end of the service a Scout trumpeter sounded "taps," which was echoed by another boy bugler in a distant part of the cemetery.

Young Adler's death occurred while he was working as a helper in his father's store. With two young companions he undertook to move a consignment of sugar from the basement to the first floor, using a hand elevator. When the elevator was half way up a rope broke and the load fell on the boy who was in the basement.

He was one of the most popular boys in Boerne because of his unfailing courtesy and friendliness, and he was a universal favorite in the Boerne high school where he was a student. On his mother's side he was a descendant of the late George Witte of San Antonio, his grandmother being Mrs. Dick Thomas of San Antonio. He was a grand nephew of Charles Kline, widely known pioneer jeweler in San Antonio.

End.

*Note:
Belmont Ogden Adler was the son of H. O. Adler and Ethel [Thomas] Adler. He was buried on August 26, 1926 in the Boerne City Cemetery in Boerne, Kendall Co., Texas. Boy and girl scouts served as his pallbearers.
