Samuel Lohman Tarkington, 87, of White Road, Creswell, died at his residence; retired farmer and carpenter; member of Columbia Baptist Church. Preceded in death by his parents, Zebulon and Nancy Furlough Tarkington and his wife, Amy Mann Tarkington. Survivors include his sons: Samuel N. Tarkington of Creswell and Lohman H. Tarkington of Edenton; brothers: Vance Tarkington of Greensboro and Aubrey Tarkington of Atlanta, GA; 3 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Rev. Paul Berry and Rev.
