Isidor (Harry) Block was nightclub owner, bootlegger and gambler who operated out of New York City and New Jersey. He had a financial interest in the Cotton Club in Harlem.
At 3 a.m. on April 30,1930, Block and his wife had just entered the elevator in the lobby of his apartment building at 173 W. 73rd Street in Manhattan when he was shot and killed by two gunmen. Mrs. Block and the elevator operator were not hurt. Block was 43 years old
