MARS HILL: Gladys P. Chandler, 81, of 1653 Holcombe Branch Rd. died November 27, 2010 at her residence. Mrs. Chandler was a native of Madison County and the daughter of the late Clifford and Gurtie Wells Payne. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by husband Clyde Chandler Jr.; sisters Elsie Chandler and Pauline Davis; brothers Leonard, Richard and David Payne.
She is survived by daughter Kathy Price and husband Roger; son Joey Chandler and wife Melissa; brother Bill Payne and wife Bula; Grandchildren Lauren Strickland and husband Gary, Austin Price, Tayler Hunter and husband Chance, McKenzie Avry and Parker Chandler; Great Grandson Gary Strickland; Several nieces and nephews and also close to Gladys were Jonathan Payne and Adam Froemming.
Funeral Service will be held 1:00 pm, Tuesday, November 30 at Bethel Baptist Church of which she was a devoted member for 60 years where she taught Bible Study, Sunday School and Bible School. Revs. Eddie Rice and Vince Whitt will officiate. Burial will follow in the Chandler Cemetery with Troy Rogers conducting the committal service.
