"Uncle Bill" was a quiet man, but his affection for his grand neices,(my sisters and me), was evident. Since he managed several Safeway stores, I recall riding in the car with him and Aunt Louise, and we all had to yell: "Safeway!" as we passed one of the stores.
He was beloved by his wife and daughter, and he and his wife took my grandfather and mother in during rough times. Bill and Louise were like parents to my mother, and their daughter was like a big sister to her. They shared what they had during The Great Depression.
My sisters and I will always be thankful for their devotion to family and helping our mom. Extraordinarily kind folks. They are missed.
