A man who led the Grand Old Party in Jasper County for some 23 years has died following a battle with cancer. Acree became the Chairman of the Jasper County Republican Party in 1987 and through the years was a delegate at several state GOP Conventions.
Gene Acree, age 69 of Kirbyville, Texas died Thursday, December 2, 2010 at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm Sunday at Kirbyville Church of Christ .
Burial will be in Trout Creek Cemetery in Newton County.
A native of Paducah, Kentucky, he had lived in Kirbyville and was the owner of Acree Plumbing in Kirbyville.
Survivors include his wife, Andrea Acree of Kirbyville, his son, Clint Robert Acree of Kirbyville, 2 daughters, Gena Lee Martinez of Houston and Dolly Dominy of Kirbyville, two sisters, Jere Alloway of Louisville, Kentucky and Kitty Warren of Houston.
