Mr. Caldwell died October 18, 1995, at Rockingham Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient since October 6. He had been ill for three years.
He was born April 8, 1914, in Rockingham County and was the son of the late Hinton and Bessie Knight Caldwell.
Mr. Caldwell was a lifetime resident of the Peak section and was a retired self employed handyman, farmer and carpenter. He was a member of the Peak Pentecostal Church.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Dorothy Marie Moubray Caldwell, Rawley Springs, one son, Charles Howard Caldwell, Rawley Springs, one daughter, Genevive Simmons, Harrisonburg, six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He was the last survivor of the six children in his family.
