John Harold Spriggs, who was working with Floyd, stated that they had loaded the truck and were waiting for the digging machine to pass and as soon as the digger passed the truck started moving. Floyd ran after the truck and tried to climb up behind the cab but he slipped beneath the rear wheels of the truck. Death was instantaneous.
Funeral services were held at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, in the First Baptist Church, Dr. A. C. Donath officiating. The body was interred in the Conroe Memorial Park with the Metcalf Funeral Home in charge.
Survivors include Mrs. Julia Leggett, mother; Mrs. Cora Frazier, grandmother; and Lloyd McGee, twin-brother, all of Conroe.
Pallbearers were Guy Burkhart, Johnny Schrock, Drew Spencer, Johnny Letbetter, Carlos Lafayette, Joe Bob Liles, John Harold Spriggs, Buddy Barrett, and Dan Hite.
The coaches and the Tiger football squad will be honorary pallbearers.
