He received his bachelor's degree from Cleveland State University and his masters from MSU. He was a longtime member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. He loved his church, Mt. Zion All Nations Bible Church where he served in the Male Chorus, the Tutorial and Scholarship committee, as well as a trustee and associate minister under the late Rev. J. E. Graves. He was also an active member of the Lansing Ministerial Alliance under Rev. Climmie Hughes.
He was a kind and generous man who greatly loved his children as well as all people and firmly espoused education.

A special thanks to his caregivers, JoAnn Spencer-Taylor and family and Ida Lloyd and family.
