She was the daughter of Patrick Henry and Bessie Chaney Taylor of Stuart, Virginia. Lucy moved to Reidsville as a young girl, and lived there most of her life. She was married twice, first to Bennie Franklin Leake and then to Millard Filmore Saunders. Mildred Childrey (nee Leake) was her only daughter and she had three grandsons, Wayne, Dwight, and Mark Childrey. She was a faithful employee of the American Tobacco Company plant in Reidsville and retired as an inspector. Lucy's favorite activities included working in the flowers in her yard, Sunday dinners at home, and visits with her friends. She was always willing to help her friends and neighbors.
